CRYRING
The CRYRING can store, cool and decelerate heavy, highly charged ions down to a few 100 AkeV. It features excellent vacuum conditions to achieve ion beam lifetimes of several seconds to minutes for even the highest charge states of ions. It is equipped with a high performance electron cooler and a gas-jet target.
These conditions allow investigations of reactions between charged particle and heavy ions, which occur during the different burning stages in stars and many other reactions and processes of astrophysical interest (Physics book: CRYRING@ESR, Lestinsky et al, 2016).
